No longer profitable FOR THE ARTIST. Profit is absolutely being made from touring musicians, it's just not going to the people actually making the music.

In the US it must be Springfield because there's so fucking many of them that they ~~named~~ made a TV show after it.

Stupid sexy autocorrect.

35 minutes doesn't seem very long for an interview. Is expecting the presidential candidate to remain lucid and coherent for slightly more than a half hour too much to ask?

You're conflating peer review and studies that verify results. The problem is that verifying someone else's results isn't sexy, doesn't get you grant money, and doesn't further your career. Redoing the work and verifying the results of other "pioneers" is important, but thankless work. Until we insensitivise doing the boring science by funding all fundamental science research more, this kind of problem will only get worse.

Fuckin Dead Eyed Todd! Dude always creeped me out. So much so that I find it hard not to see that character in everything else that actor has done.

There is a certain elegance to this kind of writing. I was surprised how easy it is to read. Maybe I have an advantage because I've always made it a little mental game to read mirrored text when I see it either in an actual mirror or from the wrong side of a clear pane of glass. The utility of the ox turn method seems to shine when the inscription is on a tablet that can be held and turned in one's hands.

1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes. This is a hill I'll die on.

The byte isn't even the base unit. Wanna talk about 1000 bits? Fine, that would be totally useless and confusing, but at least it would be consistent. Using decimal prefixes to describe binary numbers is just nonsensical. It's like trying to round off calendar days to a decimal approximation. Is the metric year 300 days? Fuck no, that's dumb, and so is saying a kilobyte is only 1000 bytes. The prefix is just a short hand, it's obvious that its precise meaning can and should change based on the unit, especially when forcing a decimal number system fails to be useful.

And furthermore, what about radians? Both radians and kilobytes are basically just a grouping mechanism for counting something else. Nobody talks about radians in decimal terms, always multiples or fractions of Pi. Kilobytes aren't really any different conceptually.

Yeah this reeks of discrimination and exploitation.

Likely more than just removed. I'm pretty sure that I left one too many scathing reviews of products that were defective by design or outright frauds, now I can't leave any reviews.

Carnist seems to imply that they eat ONLY meat though. They're not carnivores, they're omnivores. It's on the same level as using the terms pro-abortion and pro-life to describe the two sides of that debate. This kind of name calling of an out group is not too far removed from all the wacky names flat-earthers give to all the rest of us just living here on the globe not being wack-a-doos.

Using the term butthurt is some straight up 90s era homophobia too. Nice.

The real subversive move is to email the authors and ask for a copy of their paper directly from them. Science needs peer review, but it does not need publishers hording knowledge like dragons.

I've never really understood why golf courses always needs to look the same. Wouldn't they be more exciting if they reflected the local ecology. I'd think it would be more interesting to play a desert course, a swamp course, beach course, forest course, bog course, etc. Then again, golf isn't exactly known for being an adventurous sport.
