A pinhole camera has no lens. The effect here is like a pinhole camera, but a pinhole camera is nothing at all like a lens. Pinholes diffract light. Lens refract light.

EDIT: Of course you can't resolve an image through diffraction. That's not how pinholes cameras work. Diffraction negatively impacts image resolution, but it absolutely happens when light passes through them. But, although lens do use refraction to resolve an image, that same process also has unintended negative effects on image resolution (spherical aberration, chromatic aberration, etc.). I didn't bring up any of that because it was ultimately a distraction from the important part: narrow gaps diffract light, lens refract light, and pinhole cameras do not work like lens.

Primates make tools to help eating ants, among other things. It's a bit of an unusual snack, but people eat ants too. We are anteaters? How much of your diet needs to be ants before you're considered an anteater?

0? Hardly. For a simple pop-culture counterpoint, V for Vendetta was written as an indictment of the UK's slide into fascism. It was published in 1982. Fascism doesn't happen overnight, it's a slow boil erosion of rights and democracy that works in the shadows of government over decades to dissolve checks and balances from the inside and within the law.

There's a lot of people in this thread proudly sharing how they stereotype and have preconceptions about people that they don't actually know. And them their justification is that everyone should be a two dimensional single issue character archetype with literally no conflict or contradictions. Have you people even met any adults, especially professionals and academics, that aren't your parents or your teachers?

If you were in highschool at the time, really the only ethical thing to do for someone in your position is to delete all the files and shine a light on their bad security practices, but don't say anything about it to anyone. It's that last bit that always gets you in trouble. Absolute candor is something adults almost never want to hear from children.

"non-lethal" Oh, boy! What an infuriating misnomer that is.

This is also a good time to remember nothing here in this context is "non-lethal". All of these things (sand bags, tear gas, tasers, pepper spray, mace, rubber bullets, batons, shields, tactical holds, etc.) are accurately called "less lethal" because all of them can and will kill under certain circumstances, even when used by trained officers with good intentions. (I know. How often does that happen, right?) It doesn't take much to cross that line between "not intending murder" and "actual fucking murder", often something as simple as a common medical condition or simply falling while moving over hard ground like curbs and sidewalks. If a reporter is using the term "non-lethal" in the context of police brutality, that's a pretty good sign that you are being lied to.

Because vector graphics take up much less space. That's the joke.

Now I'm going to put the joke out of it's misery.

Most of the illustrations, formula, tables etc. in a math book could be vector graphics, most of them were in 90% of the upper level math text books I've ever had, usually in only 2 colors. Many math formulas can be represented and formatted directly using only Tex or LaTex. Mostly physics and math involving more than two dimensions would have more raster images, even color. But it's not like the publishers are going to be handing out PDFs with original vector graphics embedded. That would make high quality knockoffs trivial.

Explosive decompression in space. It seems to always last forever, suck EVERYTHING out, even if it's a tiny hole through which a giant xenomorph is liquified. The delta P is like one atmosphere, pathetic really.

Then there's noise in space.

Likely more than just removed. I'm pretty sure that I left one too many scathing reviews of products that were defective by design or outright frauds, now I can't leave any reviews.

Carnist seems to imply that they eat ONLY meat though. They're not carnivores, they're omnivores. It's on the same level as using the terms pro-abortion and pro-life to describe the two sides of that debate. This kind of name calling of an out group is not too far removed from all the wacky names flat-earthers give to all the rest of us just living here on the globe not being wack-a-doos.

Using the term butthurt is some straight up 90s era homophobia too. Nice.

The real subversive move is to email the authors and ask for a copy of their paper directly from them. Science needs peer review, but it does not need publishers hording knowledge like dragons.

I've never really understood why golf courses always needs to look the same. Wouldn't they be more exciting if they reflected the local ecology. I'd think it would be more interesting to play a desert course, a swamp course, beach course, forest course, bog course, etc. Then again, golf isn't exactly known for being an adventurous sport.
