Why's that? I actually find all the desktop apps shows the Post's imgs/gifs as a small thumbnail, which I don't like when scrolling the feed. For me everything there works well and pretty convenient.

NP. Mull is basically the same for android.

Root gives you and allowed programs special access and "abilities", but it doesn't change the whole OS. Why you even need root though? Tbh I was just lazy figuring out how to install microg so I root to do so. And enjoying sold QOL and a different webview in the process.
Usually the bootloader is unlocked via adb, but some phones, like ones from xiaomi, needs another step or two. I bet there are details videos on YouTube.

No. I read somewhere it needs bank agreements or something. Unfortunately microG doesn't support it too... I think that's my biggest con, but as long as banking and money transfer apps works, I don't mind.
I'd screenshot, crop, and put them at a dedicated folder that will be synced uploaded to nextcloud via their app.
It depends on their implementation. If they decided to somehow serve the ad itself and serve the video only after the ad is done, I think that you won't be able to skip it, maybe only censor it to see a blank video screen or something.
