Helsinki is getting out of the "burning stuff to make electricity" business. It used to have coal power plants - last ones closed down in 2023 and 2024. There are some dedicated plants for district heating still, but also there's the trend to move away from burning stuff.

Back then I was testing modelines to see the maximum I could push to my 14" monitor. I then backed it with a 1200x1600 virtual screen.

My girlfriend got sick from watching me scrolling around and bought me a 19" display which could do that resolution - and ended up frustrated when I added a larger virtual screen.

killall typically sends SIGTERM by default. It accepts a single argument, the signal to send - so shutdown would call it once with SIGTERM, then with SIGKILL. killall is not meant to to be called interactively - which worked fine, until people who had their first contact with UNIX like systems on Linux started getting access to traditional UNIX systems.

It used to be common to discourage new Linux users from using killall interactively for exactly that reason. Just checked, there's even a warning about that in the killall manpage on Linux.

If you want to stick with that "one key" approach - get a hardware token like a Nitrokey or a Yubikey. That should also work with most Android SSH clients.

You have a bit of a chicken and egg problem here: Nobody wants to invest in public transport because everybody is driving by car, while nobody wants to use public transport, because it is shit. Increasing the lobby for better public transport by making it harder to drive could be useful there, assuming you make the state take care of the problem cases during the transition (here in Europe some countries cover costs of taxi fare for kids who can't reach school within a reasonable time by public transit, for example)

autoMemoryReclaim – Makes the WSL VM shrink in memory as you use it by reclaiming cached memory

This could finally make WSL2 somewhat usable - though at least for my usecases living in the Windows namespace as is the case with WSL1 is still more beneficial, even if that finally works.

Hyprland is itself a fork of wlroots, a project that the author of this post created

No, it is not. wlroots is plumbing containing parts a compositor commonly would need to implement, and many compositors - including hyprland - sit on top of that to avoid reinventing the wheel over and over again.

We already have regulations about spare parts availability and pricing for some devices (mainly household appliances) - and it is planned to slowly enforce regulation for other device types over time. They'll watch the market, and if apple decides to be stupid that'll come pretty quickly.

Just like with the appliances where some vendors had their shops ready way before regulation we already have some phone vendors prepare for that - like Nokia selling some spares via ifixit. So if apple decides to play stupid games it'll be up against vendors that'll be completely fine pushing regulation through quickly as hurting apple will only benefit them.

The majority of bots doesn't even show up in the logs if you disable password auth in the server config, as you typically should.

As somebody who also uses paper maps for hiking still: I find google maps got a lot worse over the years, and is pretty much unusable for just looking at maps, while osmand provides easily readable maps.
