Well yeah, the recent xz vulnerability was not present in the source code at all. Any amount of code reading would not have caught that one.

Oh... Oh no...

Remember when humanity solved this issue and children didn't have to die? Those were good times.

I mean, I know that we are suppose to hate it for Snaps and what not but…

There is no "supposed to" when it comes to distro preferences. Use whatever you like, other people's opinions do not dictate your behavior. If Ubuntu works for you, use that. If anything, that's the freedom of FOSS. You can take other people's views in to account when choosing a distro, but in the end it is your decision. I dislike Ubuntu for a few reasons, but I don't get to dictate to anyone else what they use and why.

If you like rolling release, you could try Debian sid/unstable. I hear it's quite stable and reliable and, of course, isn't Ubuntu.

PinePhone with postmarketOS and Mobian as a backup OS. It's good enough for my needs, but I do wish Linux phones had more options. For one, I'd like a smaller phone than the PP.

See this: Fonts look terrible

The linked workaround solved this for me but only partially. If you look further in the thread this may be fixed soon anyway.

It's a combination of FireFox being the least shit and the most functional option, really. Still kind of shit by default, so I go for Librewolf. Also I've been using it since Firebird.

Overall the browser market is depressing.

Well, yeah, but I think the issue is that the best way to develop for linux is to make a Windows binary. I don't like that. Developers actively sabotaging Wine/Proton compatibility is kind of malicious though.

I love you.

The question is weird to me, but I'll plug Strawberry Music Player. It's a fork of Clementine, which was a fork of Amarok from when Amarok was still good.

Throwing in Posteo for your consideration.
