I have played it on and off for years. Once I get into a run, i play it out, but otherwise it's easy to put down, forget about for a while. Great entertainment without the addiction

I'm using wayland right now, but still use X11 sometimes. I love the discussion and different viewpoints. They are different protocols, with different strengths and weaknesses. People talking about it js a vitrue in my opinion
Arch was the only thing I could get working on my E200AH when I started. It's a weird SoC x86_64, with some non-free drivers. Now I can run anything, but the default with arch was figuring out what to do... Debian installer didn't have a mouse and the keyboard didn't work right and I just got stuck. Arch installer dropped me into a TTY and made me figure it out

I have linux distros that i like and work for me, i almost never have issues. I think it depends on hardware, and i think a lot of the issues are just people trying to do things as they used to on windows and things just work a bit different
But you tell them how to disable and reenable their graphics driver, then xorg crashes, their problem isn't solved and they give up. This question is "what is the problem you are trying to fix?"
That answer will help someone more than giving them an answer that won't fix anything
I end up using gimp because I always have it installed and raster is easier than relying on the PDF forms to be set up properly.
If you haven't heard the original radio drama, i highly recommend. I actually prefer it to the books now. It's on archive.org.
