This is the most Idiotic thing I have read in weeks...

[-] boo@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

Is it pre installed nowadays? I rember having to go to some store and doing stuff to get it...

Mounts and networks should be just checkboxes, dropdowns iirc.

Terminals are probably better on linux anyway, if we really want the stone age windows tools we can always ssh into it from windows.

I didnt really get the gui part, linux vm can have, and run GUIs, all the intellij stuff are available for linux natively. Even then iirc they can run with any linux remotely as well, just needs ssh. If you need it to run on windows like native apps, maybe use Xserver via ssh.

As far as quirks I read some comments in this thread about filesystem being too slow, maybe there are more.

And now that i have typed all these, if you want it to look and feel exactly as windows withput any compromise, idk...

I wouldnt say a lot, maybe its more, but i would estimate 15min for wsl2 vs 45min for virtual box. Plus you get lot more featues than plain wsl2 and its quirks.

Have you tried specifying your preferences in the config file and letting DNSCrypt find the best server?

Can you elaborate a bit on this? This isbwaht i have been trying to do. When it starts up it checks latency from the lists i have provided and uses them some order.

My internet provider loves to hijack DNS requests. It desn't matter if I use 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 it gives the same poisoned reply with e.g "As per court orders this website is blocked".

Just glanced through it, but I think my setup is quite similar. Haven't compared feature wise.

client -> pihole (docker) -> dnscrypt-proxy (docker)

And dnscrypt-proxy can be given a list of DoH, DNSCrypt servers it chooses based on some scheme

Some requests seem to take ~1300ms (google) or 700ms(cloudflare). and some are just 4ms.

+non filtering, I run my own pihole.

would cs-india good?

Not exactly, but I get what you are telling

17.4% said ‘yes’, while 489 (6.1%) said ‘don’t know or can’t say’.

The comments by External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi came a day after the Taiwanese government announced that it will establish a Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in India's financial capital Mumbai in sync with the broader aim of expanding overall cooperation between the two sides

Maybe Firefox Focus is what you are looking for. I use it to prevent random links from polluting my browser history. And seems to allow screenshots.

Maybe drwing in, or just throwing a bone. But I think there are more things unsaid. What does it mean to pakistan, china and russia.
