Sounds like the very thing to motivate you to ditch your gmail account, don't let them hold you hostage!

I think regularly taking long flights and tinkering with audio equipment are both niche enough use-cases to justify looking for phones that cater to your niche (I.e. have a headphone jack). As for why that is now niche, you often hear suggestions of improved waterproofing and/or more internal space for other things (or being thinner).

On Android, Firefox is still less secure than Chromium-based alternatives: Mozilla's engine, GeckoView, has yet to support site isolation or enable isolatedProcess.

From Privacy Guides. Firefox on desktop though!

Don't forget that it's riding heavily on the cinematic style of The Matrix. Doesn't matter though, still an excellent movie, especially if you watched it as a teenager!

I tried out gadgetbridge too, seemed largely functional though I did notice the Bluetooth drop. Also it apparently uses old Bluetooth rather then BTLE? I'll stick with Rebble for now but it's good to know there's a decent replacement when it eventually packs in!

I've never seen an issue, so it either works or I don't have any apps like that. Try it out, it's pretty quick to check!

I guess they could, but only if it was just as open and secure a standard as the Signal protocol, which I doubt it will be any time soon

Depending on your Linux distro you can manage entirely without using the terminal, there are plenty of graphical package managers. My point is that if you do need to do command line stuff then a bash terminal is much more user-friendly than the horrors of cmd or powershell!

That's odd, it works on GiffGaff and Lebara for me, and for everyone else I've set it up for. Maybe an issue with your phone? Does it work over WiFi?

TIL that Snapchat bought it, any idea why they're now killing it? The usual reason would be that it contained/owned something they wanted (tech, IP, data, etc) and they didn't actually care about the service, reckon that's the case here?
