Bean counting?

That’s what I was thinking, my private keys are also chilling in plaintext on my filesystem.

The only thing that could get me to switch back to windows would be an animatronic Clippy with LLM hallucinations dialed up to 11.

Here in NL, you can get a 9 letter/digit code from the app or website to write (or print) on the envelope. For example:

A 8 F

2 C D

5 P V

I remember how excited I was when I finally got an invite code. Now happily gmail-free for 2 years.

Google Maps and YouTube I can’t avoid but otherwise ungoogling successfully.

They are succeeding!

I’ve used Linux for years, certainly for all servers, but preferred the Windows desktop environment until last year.

So many shitty, slow updates. Hassle me to give MS my data or switch to Edge half the times I boot up…

I have fully embraced Gnome Shell and love my Debian setup. Feels great to be in control again!

Also, baseline CPU load is way lower and it’s much more rare to have my fans throttle up.

Wow, wasn’t expecting such a feel-good AI story.

I wonder if I could fuck with my ISOs chatbot 🤔

Hmm, so it’s only designed to handle expected scenarios?

That’s not how driving works… at all. 😐

Actually kinda surprised that chromecast doesn’t have ads, at least the model we have.

We have a dumb projector with features such as “select source”.

I recently stumbled upon this articles which nicely illustrates the growing problem.

Sounds like end-to-end encryption is opt-in. Thus, a default configuration leaves communications unencrypted and vulnerable to eavesdropping.

I wish. More shitty American pickups in the Netherlands each year, further encouraged by a tax loophole.

I hope the gas prices bleed these fuckers dry…

As an American who immigrated to the Netherlands, it’s very relatable.

When you look at how big of a struggle car dominance still is here it’s hard to see NA as anything other than a lost cause.

I find it unfortunate that NJB frames it in such a discouraging way but agree with the sentiment.

It was a bit to bumpy for the computer so we brought that with the metro.

Our washing machine broke last week and the first thought was to buy a replacement but I wanted to at least attempt a repair first.

The machine would still fill and empty water, but the dishes remained dry and there was a burning smell. So, I unplugged it, tipped it over and popped open the bottom cover.

Aside from the controller, the dishwasher was very simple: a drainage pump, a circulation pump, a heating element and some solenoid valves. A multimeter showed the (main suspect) circulation pump still had continuity which narrowed the search down to the pump’s starting capacitor. Seven euros and a few days later and it’s back in action!

The simple fix really gave me a sense of joy and satisfaction. It feels great to extend the use of something that I already have rather than need to consume more.

Can anyone relate? Any good repair stories?

I’m a big fan of the right to repair movement.
