Wall-E is pretty amazing overall, for kids and parents. There are so many things in the movie that as my kids get older, I get to explain more and more what they are referencing.

I'm pretty far from a maga, and I fully support a federal holiday for it. It accentuates the importance of voting for democracy to thrive, IMO.

But I also think mail-in and early voting options should be a federal requirement as well. Right now states can impose limits on who is eligible for mail in, and that's a huge problem.

To me its not one or the other, I think both should be done.

I wouldn't protest your use, and since that phrase is mine now I can say that!

Jokes aside, this is exactly it. One option, you can protest it. The other, and you're getting "a very rough hour, real rough".

So.... Yeah. Not voting is supporting more murders by the state, and I hope so many people realize they are being duped with their "non-voting protest" and actually go to the polls. Especially because the presidential election is not the only election that matters.

Well yeah, their employers got shut down a month or two back, right?

...so you just made it up then.

No, the phone industry made up these terms.

No one has done that. The only comments I'm downvoting are the ones spreading disinformation.

So how I read that is "Anything that isn't what I want it to say is disinformation".

Well, enjoy your day buddy, my participation in this thread is over. Its a neat feature phone, and that's where I'll be leaving that.

One thing there that shouldn't be discounted is how hard it was for folks working multiple jobs, who have to take care of their kids, etc to be able to get to a voting booth.

Long lines, inaccessible mail in voting, and so on have long been issues especially for the lower income bracket where they aren't getting the option to work from home that day, or live in an area where there are so many booths that the line takes 10 minutes to get through.

So I wouldn't say its all "stupid" people who don't vote. These were intentional decisions made by others trying to limit access to voting, and in the past, it worked. The moment mail in voting became ubiquitous, there was a massive increase in voters.

Pushing for keeping options open for everyone to vote, including making it a federal holiday, consistently available mail in voting, ensuring access to sufficient booths, etc, is of utmost importance.

From the GoFundMe (not hard to find):

Hi, My name is Seryna. The man in that video is my father. He has worked at his job for 27 years and yes, he has never missed a day of work. He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago. Then as our family grew and he remarried, he continued to work there because of the amazing health insurance that was provided through this employer because it was unionized. This got all four of his daughters through high school and college with full healthcare coverage.

My dad continues to work there, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement. In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money but if anyone feels like blessing him he would love to visit his grandchildren.

One more - tankie accelerationist who thinks that there will be some mythical bloodless uprising or just outright doesn't care that hundreds of millions would die in a collapse of the US.

Which I guess fits as a mix of 1 & 2, with a sprinkling of tankie on top?

This whole thread and not one mention of Sorcerer's Apprentice or the national treasure that is National Treasure?

For shame.
