Ah, OK. I wasn't aware of those APIs, only things like OpenGL and Vulkan, but those are perhaps specific to 3D graphics rendering?

And windows managers in the context of Wayland are the same as Wayland compositors? Which compositor would I be using through KDE Plasma 6?

I love this for redirecting YouTube-links to FreeTube.

In what way does it fail on Lineage? My local banking app fails on CalyxOS - seems to pass the security checks (judging from init messages when opening the app), but get a nondescriptive error when trying to log in.

Yeah, agreed. Blue Mars unfortunately had a little more of that the I remember from the other two. But the overall world building is impressive and interesting, and I don't regret reading any of it.

It is fitting that it has received a Hugo award, as Les Miserable by Victor Hugo definitely fits into the same category - he could waffle on about very uninteresting things for pages on end before returning to the interesting parts of the story.

Agreed, I've had much more success with the horrors of .docx-compatability with OnlyOffice. It's not 100% perfect either, but has brought me less suffering overall. As much as I'd like to avoid Microsoft Office, depending on your situation that may unfortunately not always be so easy.

How does this deal with any flags passed?

Not a requirement that it is E2EE, as the Borg repo is already encrypted. Guess my knowledge of these services is biased towards E2EE from previous research for use cases where that was a requirement.

Thanks for the tip, hadn't hard about Backblaze before. Very reasonable pricing. Would a good strategy then be to schedule rclone to have it synced, or are there other ways that would be better?

Wayland by default

Having an Nvidia-card, should I be worried about this? So far I've read so many "Nvidia bad, Wayland no work" posts that I have just stayed clear waiting for a final confirmation that everything is smooth sailing.

But maybe that’s because I’m from Germany. Here the concept of privacy is something most people like, at least in real life and in untechnical situations.

My experience from interacting with Germans is that you are above-average privacy conscious, which I find very admirable and gives me some level of hope that it is possible to gain some general awareness on these topics also in my country and elsewhere. Why do you think it is so?

Yeah, I already have KDE Connect already setup, and it is quite nice. However, since this is for navigating a media station I would prefer to avoid having my smartphone nearby, as I will end up scrolling mindlessly like the drone I am. Getting the Wiimote working is also not entirely a project of utility, but something I consider to be an interesting and fun project, so while having options are good, I still want to accomplish this.

I tried that, but nothing really happened (i.e. no output). hid-wiimote is one of several things I couldn't fit into the whole picture I was trying to create for myself. I figured that, since I got it connected and could see the sensor data from the xwiishow command from xwiimote, that the module was loaded and I didn't need to pay more attention to it.

This is perfect! I've been meaning to get into contributing to OSM in my area, and this makes that very easy. I will be heading out once the rain stops to test this.
