I agree that the website needs some work but I highly disagree that it should be simplified and dummed down for beginners, there are enough great Distros for beginners and Debian isn't really one of them so why should they brand their website like it?

Everyone is influenced by ads but the tines you re you view as your choice. Immediate purchases aren't the goal of most ads, it's mainly uncaughous influence for the next time you have to choose between a few products!

It's a little contradictory but make use of the amazing community and don't listen too much to the community. People are really helpful but you will hear stuff like "don't use that distro" or "don't use that desktop environment" a lot just because people in the community value those things and love to fight which is the best. You have to figure out what works best for you and not someone else! Still, the community is increadably helpful and there is someone to answer basically every question you have so never be afraid to ask stuff and welcome to the endless rabbithole! ;)
That would work a lot better with XFCE, Mate or LXQT! (Not that I dislike any of those but unlike KDE they actually look old af)

Funfact, the shitpapers of Axel Springer plan to use fully fletched AI generated articles since ChatGPT came out, in that case I can't see any way to decrease the quality further tho!
