I have been waiting to get approved for a peertube account on tilvids.com, but after 7 days i am still waiting. Did you manage to get it in dev mode already? I have the video for you still, if you have a suggestion for another platform i can upload it to.

See my video (once i figure out how to upload videos to lemmy..). You will have to

  • turn on the device, leave it unplugged.
  • push power + up + down
  • connect to the computer and refresh

It might not go in one try. it took me three times before I got it.

I hear your argument, and I agree to it. For new drivers it should also become common sense to plan your route save and thus comfortable.

But OP specifically mentioned his daughter experiences anxiety. That pushes it into a different category if it was not meant metaphorically.

If your daughter gets anxiety or panic attacks while driving, I suggest her to get professional help/therapy instead of avoiding particular (but common) traffic situations. I’m talking from experience. Fostering the anxiety now by not acknowledging it, might end up with an ever longer road to recovery for self confidence later on.

The custom maps community for wahoo is very strong. They update maps, and using OSM data, more frequently then wahoo. You can download maps here and then you push it to your device with an app called Elemantary. Find the read me in that onedrive folder.

Getting the bolt into dev mode such that it can connect via usb is a bit fiddly, you have to push power and up/down buttons at once. But if you are persistent you will get it.

Now having used Ridewithgps for planning I find it superior to Komoot. I find the yearly plan a bit expensive as I don’t use it often, but subbing to the monthly plan on occasion is a fair price imo. The free feature list also pretty rich already. So consider your use cases.

Maybe download something like Organic Maps on iPhone for offline maps as a back up solution.

Imported chinese EVs are still undercutting the European manufacturers, as much they have been lobbying to have increased import fees on the cheaper non EU EVs. The narrative is that they are heavily subsidised to the extend they cannot compete anymore, in so crippling overal in-continent EV development. Resulting in a dependence to the East.

If I am not mistaken such import fee has just passed in Brussel, in order to protect the European market.

In a weird way, humanity has been longing for greener automobile solutions, and now that it’s there, Europe wants to slow it down.

I have a Mac mini m1 and run several containers to manage media, arrs and vpn. I also have a Debian vm for homeassitant. I had used UTM prior but now moved the vm to VMware fusion.

Main issue I run into is not enough ram as the base model only has 8gb. And I do not have redundancy optimised when I reboot. I have it locked with a password so it doesn’t auto run the containers or the vm.

I double the mac for light browsing too. I considered getting a dedicated Linux mini pc for the services next to a desktop Mac. But my usage is too sparse at both ends of the spectrum.

Hi everyone, i hope to find any of the r/Velo geeks here as well.

I finally got myself a nice carbon Wheelset, Lun Winspace Hyper 23 SE 40mm, it has a 21 internal width and nearly 28mm outer width. Now i am undecided which tyres to fit the set. I have the choice out of two sets that i have laying around in fairly mint conditions. The first is the conti gp5000 S TR 28mm and the second the conti gp5000 AS TR 32mm. I got the latter to fit my winter configuration, and I have enjoyed it on the Aluminum DT Swiss P1850 wheels, internal width 19mm.

Winspace specifies the Hyper 23 SE is best matched with 25-28mm tires, following the transition from rim to tire is nearly flat, beyond the 28mm you can get a little bulp, potentially sacrificing aero benefits. Peak torque had made a very insightful video about this too where he concluded the airflow might not attached back to the rim using the wider tire. Now, i am not a racer, but i do enjoy optimising the configuration.

Another point of consideration is the weight, it seems the S TR 28mm weighs around 280 grams, and the AS TR 32mm a full 105 grams more. That is 210 grams for a set. Around me, the area is flat as a pancake, but next month I aim to cycle the Amstel Gold 150km, that will have a more fluent course where lower weight can help me getting up the hills faster for less power. Saving me energy to help avoid being slowest in our group of friends.

Bicyclerollingresistance has made analyses of both tires, but categorised the AS TR 32mm as a gravel tire, so i can’t make a head to head comparison on the site. They did have the AS TR 28mm in the road category to compare with the S TR 28mm. The 32mm and 35mm supposedly have a higher thread thickness compared to the smaller. Wet grip is also noted as a pro of the AS TR with a slight penalty on rolling resistance.

Many will say 32mm is simply more comfortable then 28mm due to lower pressure they allow. I am pretty lightweight, i think the system weight will tally up to 75 kg maybe, so i am not confidant i will get my best bang of comfort over mm when going from 28mm to 32mm.

Any opinions anyone has to share would be greatly appreciated

Thank you for pointing out the obvious mistake.

I tried the hass route instead, but can’t get it to work due to dependency issues once I try to install the supervisor package. Even though the aarch64 OS agent seems to install without issue. I’m tired of getting it to work.

I have managed to install HASS on a Mac mini m1 through a Debian vm in UTM, that is serving its introduction purposes right now. Likely I will end up getting a home assistant Green at some point, but I don’t find the price that appealing for what it is. Or I need to shell out even more for a n100 mini pc.

Hi everyone. I am trying to repurpose an old Vero 4K+ that i have laying around. It is a Linux machine running Debian 11 bullseye, but I might need some help i am afraid.

Out of the HA versions, OS seemed like the one I want, for keeping the option for add ons. I went ahead and used the Installation method on generic x86/x64 Option 2. As such i created a bootable usb through Balena Etcher on my Mac, it seems to have succeeded.

After inserting the usb on the target device, it doesn’t let me boot from it. I read in the tutorial usually one would configure the bios on EFI and secure boot, as far as i am aware, the OSMC doesn’t have that. I assumed it would be able to boot from the USB as that is the exact way OSMC is installed.

I am able to bring up the terminal when I press ctrl on a keyboard during the boot sequence.

Do you think it is possible to install HA OS on the machine? I hope so, i am aiming to combine it with a Sonoff ZBdongle-E to start my journey into HA.

Me too. I realised I don’t need anything more. It’s easy, supposedly private and quite elegant.

I am new to the nba, I understood teams have a salary cap which prevented astronomical salaries within the sport. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I use nextdns and Firefox focus content blocker extension

[-] good_hunter@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You can check languagetool. I believe there is a selfhost version as well, I even recall a cracked selfhost version. I am a premium subscriber of the original app at the moment, I understand it is not 100% privacy tight.
