GrapheneOS is very simple to install on any supported Pixel device. You definitely don't need a third party installing the operating system for you.

It's a very helpful community. Someone will either explain why or point you to a FAQ. I bet it has something to do with the built in reader being insecure.

I have been doing passive research on proton to maybe make a switch... I agree with you. At this point, i think I'd rather have my required services with multiple/different providers and use syncthing in-house whenever possible.

I stopped using it because of that for a while. I have not found another launcher that has the swipe up and down on home screen icons to open other apps, put 9 icons in the dock and a few other things I can't remember right now...
I blocked all Internet access to nova to circumvent analytics. Not sure if it's working but until I find a different launcher...
