Yes that is another option. I know 7zip works there, win11 is mostly the same as win7 under the hood, but I would install a supported frontend instead of fiddling with the registry, tweaks like that can break after updates
I don't use windows personally, just set it up for others. I don't care enough to tweak the registry for them, if there are more convenient solutions

Aha, I see, you can consider it whatever you want, maybe the "not fully free software" would be a better term, but "not open source" is too harsh, because source is open, as you can see it, but doesn't fit the definition of Free Software as defined by FSF. If you use requirements by FSF, please use their terminology as well, it's confusing.

Why do you care? People do a lot of stupid and wrong things, you don't have to care or share these things. See my example: I read about this backround image app or whatever is this, I thought "yeah, it's stupid and I don't care" and moved on with my life. Never thought about this again until you posted this here. There are a lot more important things to be angry about. Ignore the unnecessary. This guy makes nicely edited reviews, that's all, forget the extra bullshit around that. Your life will be better.
