I had no preconceived notions, never used Sync for Reddit. Just thought it was a nice app and a good experience. I was happy to throw the guy $16 for a year of premium, and if I'm still using it in a year I'll buy the life pass. That's not necessarily wrong, but not the big explaining factor here I think. The technological challenges behind aligning ML models with factual reality aren't solved, so it's not an engineering decision. It's more that AI is remarkably easy to market as being more capable than it is
