"Source: LendingTree analysis of QuoteWizard by LendingTree insurance quote data from Nov. 14, 2022, through Nov. 14, 2023."

QuoteWizard is LendingTree's product to compare insurance rates between different companies. Basically, their way to insert themselves in the process to gather people's info.

Accident rate quote: "Tesla drivers have the highest accident rate. From Nov. 14, 2022, through Nov. 14, 2023, Tesla drivers had 23.54 accidents per 1,000 drivers. Ram (22.76) and Subaru (20.90) were the only other brands with more than 20.00 accidents per 1,000 drivers. Meanwhile, Pontiac (8.41), Mercury (8.96) and Saturn (9.13) were the only brands with fewer than 10.00 accidents per 1,000 drivers."

Subaru is likely high due to the Impreza WRX and the WRX STI models which are rockets.

Interesting to see the lowest accident rates are seen in three marquees that no longer exist; Pontiac, Mercury, and Saturn.

Since the author liked the Corolla may as well add the Celica and Geo/Chevy Prizm (North America only?).

No idea but I will blame the differences on this being an article from the UK.

I had Buddy Cub P1 wheels on my Honda EG Civic hatch when it was stolen over 10 years ago. Yes, I am still upset. There were many other parts on the car. It was found later with all the good stuff missing.

Fastmail here as well. I don't need super privacy. The phone app is great. Was easy to setup my personal domain.

If my car died tomorrow I'd be looking at 30 year old cars. New cars don't excite me much. My commute is 15 minutes and I need something to occasionally haul big stuff for the house. Currently driving a lifted 99 Legacy wagon. Once I catch up with deferred maintenance (about $2k) the car will be perfect for my needs and reliable.

Looking at your list it looks like you want something on the sporty side. Do you ever to haul kids, groceries, etc?

My only comment for your choices is a bout the the Kia. I don't believe they try to do the right thing for their customers. They never took full responsibility for the exploding engines. Now with the "Kia Boys" hack they left customers on their own, again. I was caught up in the engine fiasco but my Kia is higher end so not easy to steal. The streets in my area were littered with stolen/trashed Kias for a while but I think the kids ran through the supply.

Oh dear, a token. Again, I'm not following any cryptocurrencies but tokens seem to pop up in the bad news column often.

I did basic repairs at my old place. The rent was well below market and I'd rather do it than have to deal with the landlord's odd schedule.

I've read several recent news articles describing the negative affects of colonialism and the pineapple trade.

If I remember correctly this had the deepest dive: https://civileats.com/2023/08/23/how-two-centuries-of-extractive-agriculture-helped-set-the-stage-for-the-maui-fires/
