Considering Trudeaus favorability ratings are currently like, -30, it’s actually significantly more popular than Trudeau himself, which makes me skeptical that the driving force really is just a dislike of Trudeau

I think that's exactly the explanation of how the driving force really is just a dislike of Trudeau. The CPC has done a good job of tainting it as "Trudeau's Carbon Tax". The Environment is a top issue for Canadians. This is just anecdotal, but I live in a rural, conservative area and while you get a lot of ignorance or just hatred of any type of tax, you also get some people who logically understand how it works but simply hate it because it's tied to Trudeau.

the younger generation loves the game and the older set hate the noise.

That only makes sense if the "older generation" is the silent/greatest generation because 95% of people I see playing pickle ball are baby boomers.

If I remember correctly, it's the fact that these loans are held by companies who pay state tax. If the loans are paid out by the federal government, the states' future tax revenues will be diminished.

Free speech as a concept isn't just limited to the government, that's a limitation of the First Amendment.

Free Speech ≠ First Amendment

Unironically, yes. As part of Reddit's deal with Google, they're supposed to get access to some of Google's search tools.

Bad analogy. If you were doing what you said, but instead of taking notes, you were using a camera, you'd quickly get a visit from the UW Special Constable Service who'd probably transfer you to WRPS.

EDIT: Even if you were just taking notes on people, it's possible you'd experience the same process.

Cars aren't being eliminated completely, but we can significantly reduce their usage if we look to your home city as an example. In Copenhagen, only 44% of commutes are made by car. In the Bay Area, probably the least car-centric area of California, 85% of commutes are by car (I removed the 33% WFH, so 58/67=85%).

What about Ubuntu derivatives for desktop? My go to recommendations are Pop! OS and Linux Mint (which I use).

As a Canadian who just got a heat pump, it's because natural gas is so cheap here in North America.

My system has an auxiliary natural gas backup. Even though my heat pump works down to below -20°C, it's set up to switch over to natural gas at around -6.7°C (stupid fahrenheit setting) because even at COP of ~2.0, 98% efficient natural gas is way, way cheaper.

Then there's tire and road wear, which increase substantially with the heavier weight of EVs.

Most of the supporters of hydrogen trains are the Oil & Gas lobby, a traditionally conservative group. It's another, "Technology will save us from climate change!" scheme, which will allow unabated oil extraction to continue so we can make hydrogen fuel.
