US self-interest in the region would involve greater investment in Saudi Arabia at the cost of Israel.

The best interests of world peace would involve brokering deals between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Israel is an outsized power in the region solely because of US support and funding. The solution to that is simple.

This community needs to deal with all the defederated instances. A lot of the time, people from instances that have defederated with each other cannot see each other's messages on this community despite lemmy.ml being federated with all of them. It's rather absurd.

Risked lives? But I thought the plane was carrying missiles and not POWs...

This is disappointing, and I'll explain why:

Prior to Trump's sanctions on Huawei, it was widely recognized that Apple led Huawei in the smartphone space, and that by extension the US led China technologically.

Well, today, Huawei has L3 autonomy on lock and estimates it'll have general L4 technology ready "before 2025." Huawei has already led specialized L4 deployments at Tianjin Port and is testing L4 technology on China's network of test roads. Huawei has partnered with MANY car manufacturers in China to deliver their self-driving package across multiple price levels... All under the foot of US sanctions.

Meanwhile, Apple has dumped billions of dollars every year into their car project and can't seem to get it off the ground, and now comes news that they'll only be at L2 in 2028? Apple isn't just lagging Huawei, Apple's lagging domestic car manufacturers like GM.

So... 2023 is still way below 2019? Makes a good headline, I guess

Otherwise the US would be considered a terrorist state, and it's obviously not

Meanwhile, Canadians happily continue to consume products from those same CEOs instead of finding reasonable alternatives where possible. Canada's big grocery chains are absolutely robbing people blind, but instead of going to local ethnic grocers, people continue to shop at the same places that continue to rob them.
