To you old people angry at changes: is it illegal to enjoy stuff? Is it not good that Lemmy attracts people from reddit? This sounds to me like good old conservatism. Also if Sync dev turns into a capitalist pro slavery billionaire, Lemmy should be the place to welcome refugees.

I don't know for how long I've used sync and Sync is a reminder that social media is only as good as the tools let it be. I'm not convinced I would've converted to Lemmy if Sync stayed with reddit.

Chatgpt is still a tool and it's up to the user how to use it. If you google "bolognese recipe" you get one result; if you Google "traditional ragu from Bologna" you get another. Same for ChatGPT.

Also, a general prerequisite: you need to know yourself well enough to be able to identify, and admit to yourself, when you're no longer rational and are controlled by emotion. Imo this pyramid is based on this fact alone, and most people are naturally capable of seeing through the facade of others once they're able to face their own shortcomings (wear it like armor).

Yeah, that's the one.

All those defenders of KeePass here in Lemmy makes me really suspicious if everybody has to fit the nerd mould to be accepted. Really feels like shit subteddits tbh.

Ah, yeah that makes things even worse. Jesus Christ, us sheep of reddit that hailed him when he took over as ceo after that woman who's name I don't remember.

Although I dislike him as much as anyone, I read that in the early days you could add users as mods without the need for users to accept.
