I believe that this was already the case. Many moons ago I read a synopsis of a Star Trek show pitch that was slated for development which was set in the future and where warp travel was limited due to the use of an omega bomb. When I watched Discovery, I thought it was just a reworking of that original omega-based idea.

Edit: found it! https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Trek:_Final_Frontier

They seem to not want immigrants. And I suspect "immigrant" means "doesn't look like me". In other words, it's just "they took are jerbs!"

The make-up and mindset of the citizenry doesn't change just because the government changes.

your basic rights, keep getting monetised

We don't have any rights. We never have.

"Rights aren't rights if someone can take them away, they're privileges. That's all we've ever had in this country is a bill of temporary privileges."

The “guy” is a Russian expert and former CIA on the … Russia desk.

Assuming that's true then he's a Russian expert and former CIA [officer?] on the Russia desk who's written an article full of non sequiturs, supposition and just plain nonsense. He's a Russian expert and former CIA officer on the Russia desk who's a deluded fool.

But you probably have no clue what that actually means, do you?!

It means the embarassment from having written this article is even greater?

Amazon bankrolling industry lobbying against Microsoft Azure should surprise no one
