The food analogy is great. But I think there's a quantitative difference in effort and long term commitment between what to have for dinner and how you'll afford to raise your family.
You're demanding to view this as "good team" / "bad team". Fix that first because it stops any hope for peace.
It's far cheaper than your first car and arguably more important. You find a way when you have to.
Excuse the tangent but you made me look it up. >50% of Americans weren't eligible to vote in 2000 but apparently I need to answer for the Iraq War for the rest of my friggin' life like that was my personal decision.
I think that would have been a healthier start, to focus attention and generate some liveliness, but people's preconceived notion is "Reddit" so that's where community creation went.
But then we would get every instance with their own meta-community, and it’s just a complication on top of communities and instances.
The trick is to have meta-meta-communities to aggregate the aggregators :)
I don't know how tech savy you are but I selfhost Matrix and almost exclusively use bridges to talk with friends. I feel comfortable breaking e2e on a system I control and the all-in-one-place messaging is pretty sweet, like Pidgin used to be.
If you are already comfortable self-hosting other services, Matrix doesn't really impose any additional complexity IMO and the bridges I use seem to be very stable.
It's not just the redditors bringing the labels and hexbears are also effectively recently arrived, having updated their server.
Russia invaded Laos?!
Let me return the appreciation for a thoughtful response! Unfortunately I don't have an equal abundance of time (nor fast typing skills). Where's the outcry for the parent class?
Those cube dwellers (labor) are often better compensated and lead more secure, comfortable lives than small business owners (ownership). If you instead frame the problem as income inequality rather than straight up Marxism, I think you're still naturally led to the tax reforms you're describing. However, I don't view that as "anti-capitalist". It's restoring guardrails that shouldn't have been removed under Reagan.
pro-Chinese propaganda
That's really what it is. There's no balanced discussion. Just rabid nationalism and xenophobia that clearly breaks the rules. But because it's directed at the West, it gets a pass, I guess?
I think you read my comment backwards. I guess to follow your analogy, social media is "soma" and is a problem today.
