They were never really going to kill the dogs. The full context was along the lines of "well you can do the right thing, or we will have no choice but to..". I'm not aware of any cases where they've actually euthanised a pet, famous or no. It's an absolute last resort as they would rather just quarantine them. The included example script re-runs the selection every 500ms so it would instantly overwrite what the user has selected. In theory you could even lower this timer.

It's too hard to find quality information like these replies through searching. I'm the kind of person that likes to understand things in an extra level of detail so when I discuss things with people I can know what I'm talking about. Knowing only the bullet points makes it hard to back up opinions when talking to people of differing opinions.
