Right? It is a generic protocol for all sorts of communications, some of which don’t require encryption. Yet every modern chat client for human-to-human communication has OMEMO, OTR, & PGP encryption options.
Not in my ideal spot but tolerating Android via LineageOS for microG on a Sony Xperia 5 III as their ROMs make microG painless & hardware-wise I get a fast-enough CPU, OLED, a headphone jack, & microSD.
Fuck banking institutions & their apps. We are seeing them eliminate online banking now & cash is slowly not being accepted by vendors & in-person experiences are worse—instead everything is siloed to only Android or iOS & disallow any sort of modifications to your device with all these attestation assertions. If a user wanted to ditch their phone, go Linux, use an unGoogled phone, or get a dumbphone, etc. they will be disconnected from the banking network—to which most users would view as an immediate nonstarter. Apple is just a different data-collecting advertising business.
Calling GNOME a mobile UI perfectly sums up why I hate it on a desktop/laptop
The more the number change in that direction, the more game devs will not choose to ignore non-Microsoft Windows options too moving the needle to native support. Imagine a future where a game only works after enabling WSL with command flag workarounds if you want to play on a proprietary OS 😂
Is this the real reason polka was invented?
Gentoo is under ChromeOS’s hood. These optimizations are what enabled accessibly-priced laptops for kids off all economic stratum (even if the Google part is bad).
+1 to bidets
Asia has spoiled me
Molly now merged the long-awaited UnifiedPush feature that Signal refuses. This means the notifications go thru my server instead of Google’s.
That said, I hate the entire concept of only allowing one Android device but also requiring an Android device with a SIM or you get no service. iOS is also supported but feeds into that duopoly, requirements to have a phone, & the freedom use whatever devices you want how you want.
I would prefer XMPP, but I have too many folks that refuse to move from Signal despite the conspiracies.
Think about this every time you or a project you contribute to is using Microsoft GitHub instead of an open source offering (or self-hosted) or folks contributing to your permissive-licensed project living elsewhere while using Microsoft GitHub Copilot. All your projects and that force-push history clean up now belong to the Microsoft-owned AI that sells itself back to the developers that wrote all the code it trained on—no compensation, no recognition.
I went back to xmonad from Sway a while back when I realized color management wasn’t coming to Wayland any time soon.
