If you think about it like renting vs buying a house it makes sense. A VPS means hardware problems are not your problem and you can switch or upgrade for free anytime, but you pay more in the long term.

Also, the costs don’t end when you buy your own hardware. Power ain’t free and swapping out components when they die does add up, especially hard drives.

I’m aware, I’d hoped it would fell less like a web app and closer to a native experience. Discord & Figma are gold standard in this regard for example.

Reduced functionality and barely noticeable speed improvements. Still very much feels like a web app in a wrapper.

This is a great one and to add it also allows for secure notes, 2FA and sending files securely.
