organised system of reproduction

Yes, that would be great. People put so much stock in peer review because there is the myth that every statement undergoes under a rigorous process of verification in multiple laboratories. The reality is, as you said, there is a culture of active discouragement of reproduction and the pushing of novel results.

Not to mention that to foster reproductions, researchers should be trained into a culture of replication and collective metanalyses. As it is now, reproductions are less than an afterthought for the vast majority of researchers, and virtually none knows how to handle multiple replicatory studies instead of p-hacking.

Sure, the use case is remote to say the least, but the decentralized thing is appealing. I will have to wrap my head around the bitcoin registration thing, since I am not familiar with crypto. But I did imagine something like decentralized exchange or shops as part of community organizing. In that manner you can, for instance, support web creators within a given community etc. So, perhaps the use case not that far as it initially seems.

add much richer functionality here to turn a poll into a proper group decision-making tool

This wording shapes my thought better than I did in the post.

I also don't know why this 1 year old post popped into my feed, but anyway, as others report, I am curious about this "case". Is there any resolution @FarFarAway@lemmy.world ?

the most recent full time ugly caveman

This is immensely funny. On the other hand, I think there is indeed some debate about sapiens and neanderthalensis not being different species, thus the meme. https://www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/are-neanderthals-same-species-as-us.html

I thought obvious that the joke refers to the misconception some people host that 'homo sapiens' is a less evolved species than modern people, something we out-evolved.

Agreed. This area of skills completely evades me though. So, yes, if you have some tips on that, they will be well received.

I agree. It is insane that they don't make sure people understand computer basics, now that our life is defined by computers. I hate that people are divided to the "tech savvy" and "tech ignorant" camps at work. It makes me question what sci-fi had me believe about "technologically advanced societies".

What if the purpose of school isn't inherently to teach people stuff?

Pew Research Center recently commented on this https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/05/22/how-pew-research-center-will-report-on-generations-moving-forward/

The field has been flooded with content that’s often sold as research but is more like clickbait or marketing mythology. There’s also been a growing chorus of criticism about generational research and generational labels in particular.
