I've set up Linux on my computer, and want to add a fortune widget that displays Marxist quotes and bits of theory to help me keep up my revolutionary optimism and stave off doomerism. I'd like them to be short little tidbits, not long paragraphs ideally. Anyone know a good source?

I’ve lived in China now for almost a month, and when walking about you will see many political slogans plastered everywhere including stuff about socialist construction and great rejuvenation. The thing I see the most however is the ‘socialist core values’ which list the following:

富强、民主、文明、和谐 prosperity, democracy, civility, harmony 自由、平等、公正、法治 freedom, equality, justice, the rule of law 爱国、敬业、诚信、友善 patriotism, dedication, integrity, friendship

I always found these a bit weird and I don’t really understand their purpose and I also don’t quite see why they should be plastered everywhere. I have some ideas but I would like to hear all of your guys’ opinions.

Btw, I don’t need a vpn to access lemmygrad funnily enough

It makes sense that they won't allow their own skin to be ravaged (United States, Britain, Germany, France etc), but why not the Baltics and Poland, at this point?

I'm surprised they haven't done so, after these long months

Do people just pitch in ideas?

Do writers just go and present their scripts?

What would be the metrics of approval or disapproval?

Would there be a people’s council for that and democratic vote to distribute funds for a particular type of movie?

So many questions 😂

The American media loves saying that, but does it really have a right to exist? Does an apartheid colonizing regime have the right to exist in someone else’s land?

Since the libs keep telling me that I am a state capitalist, I asked AI about that term out of curiosity and I got this answer.

“The term you are looking for is "state socialism" or "state capitalism." State socialism is an economic system in which the state owns and controls the means of production, and the state plays a significant role in the economy. In this system, the state may own all the businesses and capital, and private property may be abolished.

State socialism is often seen as a transitional phase between capitalism and socialism, where the state takes control of the means of production in order to redistribute wealth and resources more equally. The ultimate goal of state socialism is to eventually transition to a socialist society where the means of production are owned and controlled by the workers or community, rather than the state.

It's worth noting that state socialism has been implemented in various forms in different countries throughout history, and the specific characteristics of this system can vary depending on the country and the political ideology of the ruling party. Some examples of state socialist systems include the former Soviet Union, China, and Cuba.

In contrast, socialism, in its pure form, is an economic system where the means of production are owned and controlled by the workers or community, rather than the state. In socialism, private property is abolished, and the focus is on meeting the needs of all members of society, rather than maximizing profits for a select few. Socialism can take various forms, such as cooperative socialism, market socialism, or democratic socialism.

It's worth noting that the terms "state socialism" and "state capitalism" are often used interchangeably, but they have slightly different meanings. State capitalism refers specifically to an economic system where the state plays a significant role in the economy, but private property still exists. In contrast, state socialism refers to an economic system where the state owns and controls the means of production, and private property has been abolished.”

On BitWarden we can generate passwords up to 128 characters. I wonder why Lemmy doesn’t allow us to go up to 128 chars.

I just posted on GenZedong but I noticed that my post fits better in shitreactionariessay, so I deleted my GenZedong post and posted it again on shitreactionaries say.

I can't see my post on shitreactionariessay, but I can see my comment on the same post explaining how I first posted on GenZedong and then deleted it.

Tatars in the USSR (lemmygrad.ml)

Saw a lot of people call the deportations of Tatars in the USSR a genocide. I know that the Tatars collaborated with the Axis but was it necessary to deport so many of them? Many of them not having directly collaborated with the Axis. Im on board with punishing those who actively collaborated with the Nazis but from what i have heard of, this was unnecessary
