Except that I've seen the same exact shit in irl orgs, pushing out marginalized comrades. Just because this is the internet, doesn't mean you're exempt from examining your privledge and holding solidarity with marginalized people by shutting the fuck up and listening.
I'm thinking they meant gender affirmation surgery, and got their terms mixed up.
I've had it done to me before I started using she/they with the intent of refusing to accept that I'm a "real woman". It tends to be used as a way to refuse to use someone's correct pronouns, and instead handwave their identity as unimportant, but the lib still gets to feel progressive. Imo it's only proper to use they/them as a default when you have no way of knowing someone's pronouns.

Also, in a lot of cases, the people you're educating aren't the people you're arguing with, they're the people watching the conversation unfold. I've personally learned an incredible amount just from lurking and seeing leftists pushing back on lib takes.
