imaginative title, i know

i realise the train isn't the full focus of this picture; but i like the way it's used to show the scale of the dinosaurs by being absolutely dwarfed by the them

The closest to a credible source I found is this page:
Retro Futurism At Its Best: Designs and Tutorials — Smashing Magazine

Which links to a German page with Klaus Bürgle's works, section "Städte & Verkehr I" (Cities & Traffic I), but I don't see the image there. I also looked at the other Klaus Bürgle sections (I did not check all the other artists that appear there).

The source of the hi-res posted image, with no information, is:
...monorail | James Vaughan | Flickr

Seen on Dark Roasted Blend: One-Track Wonders: Early Monorails, which attempts to credit the image, but with broken links.

Futuristic concept of the Space Train. It would, hypothetically, be able to transport people and cargo from earth to Moon in less than one day. Enjoy!

Source: Off Rail Steam Locomotive (by Ricardo Chamizo - ArtStation):

Revisiting an old 3d concept , playing with shaders and palette of colors. Quick render, no UVmaps, just procedural bump and gruping chunks of geometry per material. The model is my take of the streamlined trains from the 20’s but in an alternative Albion, where roads wins over railways (used to explore other unknown lands) A bit Art Deco

I'm not sure if this counts as a Imaginary Train because a prototype (30-yard / 119-metre line) was built:

future commuter

Commuting by train to and from work is part of the busy life of many of the dwellers in America's larger cities. The designers for the future tell us that this may be the kind of train in which they'll skim along the rails. The light alloys—aluminum and magnesium—will play a prominent part in its construction and equipment, as they will in countless other new products. If you—use or can use—aluminum or magnesium in the things you make, Bohn engineers would like to talk to you with a view to serving your future requirements,

wooden mansion on two sets of train tracks, through a snow-covered mountain vista

strongly reminds me of the mortal engines series - i'd love a spin-off based on trains (although i don't quite know how that would work)
