Post binance delist, monero became the most real decentralised crypto currency of all time.

Zero manipulation, and it will be more stable than bitcoin cuz there are no crazy leverage traders (weak hands).

I'm a pretty broke 22 yr old, but today I've secured two XMR. 2 Moneros or shall I say Dinero (money in spanish lol). Anyway, it is still so unbelievably early. It seems like only visionaries know about Monero. We're all going to make it boys. I love Monero and this community.

I'm very wary of tech "communities" because so often they're closed-off, dismissive of new-comers, and hostile to anyone who shares they've had any trouble with communities' platforms or products. But I have to give the Monero community credit for being, at least in my experience over the years, welcoming of new-comers and open about discussing challenges and brainstorming fixes. The Bitcoin community is, granted larger, but the major focus there is on making money, ideology and everyone-else be damned. A good way to experience these communities' contrasting vibes side-by-side is to trade over time on AgoraDesk then on LM. Every trade on the latter has been smooth for me, with the other party answering questions quickly and amiably. And at the conclusion of the so far flawless (for me) trades, the other party and I exchange positive reviews of each other to cement our community reputations.

In contrast, trading on the SAME PLATFORM's BTC arm (AgoraDesk), I regularly find the other party NEVER replies to my inquiries. Or if they ever do, it's terse and well outside the trade-cancellation window. And even though I've left positive reviews for other AD traders, not a single one has ever reciprocated. Even when asked.

And just try posting about a tech problem with a broader crypto or BTC platform. The fanboys downvote your sharing of your experience out of existence after belittling you for not knowing better. Whenever I've had questions about Monero, someone invariably offers their experience and points me in a productive direction.

Lastly, there are the crypto ideologies of financial autonomy, privacy, decentralization... These are being increasingly challenged by antagonistic state actors, Trad-Fi profit-motive take-over of the crypto space, "Defi" corporations releasing fraud-prone products without caring about catastrophic consumer effects so long as the company posts enough of a profit, and the broader money-at-all-costs average citizens willing to back just about anyone they think will make them a quick buck/yen/peso...

They call the Monero community fanatical. I call us a community that cares first about the ideals crypto was initially founded on--including independence from corrupt financial gate-keepers and the depredations of corporate profit-at-all-costs moguls.

Keep the faith!

I am looking at you, Monerujo.

There should be a Monero Wallet for Android that should give you a local node at least as an option, like Monero GUI does. Granted, most people would probably want an Android device to use a remote node. But fast SD cards are getting cheaper. I just bought a 500MB SanDisk Extreme Pro for $50, for a different project. And Android devices are getting faster and getting more RAM.

It is possible to get a local node running on an android device, but it is not easy, and requires a lot of typing with a terminal shell. It isn't hard, it is just a real pain in the butt. It would be nice if an app could do it painlessly like Monero GUI.

I would just like to have my Monero wallet on a device I could take with me, and have the entire blockchain on it privately.

Join the Monero economy. There is some sites that are useful if you want to buy something with monero.

Monero market : On this site you can buy almost everything with your Monero. It's peer-to-peer :

Mullvad is an anonymous VPN service. You can buy with Bitcoin or Monero.

Cake pay is a service that sells prepaid credit cards and gift cards so you can spend your monero. EU supported

You can buy steam and origin games with Monero and other crypto at Keys4coins. IDK if it's safe so be careful.

Coinscards sells gift cards and prepaid credit cards. infortunately EU is not supported.

I've got a bit of spare time coming up and thought I could create some how-to videos on topics that might help Monero users.

Any suggestions?

Thoughts that have come to mind are:

  • Video on using ANON / NERO - the 2 phone airgapped "DIY hardware wallet" setup

  • Video of how to buy Monero in the UK (saw a couple Reddit threads asking that)

  • Video on how to use BasicSwap DEX

Your suggestions may also help other readers to create content. Thanks!

I read a few comments on posts talking about how to buy monero and i've seen people suggesting to first purchase bitcoins on trocador.app and then exchange them for monero. Have you used this method or would you vouch for it? I mean, a direct way should be easier but i don't want to use centralized methods like kraken and i want no KYC (Know your customer).

On trocador's buy section

I'm interested in the last option but i don't know what a spread is and thus if a -24.8% spread is a good thing or a bad thing. Also i want to use a credit card when committing the payment

Full disclosure, I lost like right at 1.5 K in BTC on cake wallet before due to their horrific "random" mnemonic seed generator. I've been told this has been fixed since then but to be honest I have hated them with a burning passion ever since. HOWEVER, Vik literally has comments you can look up telling people that "mobile wallets are safer than desktop wallets" (look that shit up in his comments) keep in mind the mobile cake wallet got hacked and lost people thousands and this man defends it this way. He spent half a million dollars on the monero.com domain that provides a quick way to buy monero -using your bank card- or other crypto that can (potentially) be traced back to you. Mixed in with the fact that one of the lead devs left and is doing chain analytics and yes I see this has been discussed and I see like Vik and the same 3 or 4 other accounts coming to his defense. Everything this community is trying to avoid happening to Monero (centralization, censorship and\or node sniffing, transaction tracing) is currently happening with Cake. Be careful

Kraken has four different pairs for Monero, namely XMR/EUR, XMR/USD, XMR/USDT, and XMR/BTC, which means you can buy Monero directly with EUR, USD, USDT, and BTC on Kraken.

They have a variety of funding options for traditional currencies. More information can be found here:

You can further use a credit or debit card to fund your account, see:

An overview of all funding options can be found here:

Lastly, Kraken came out as supportive of Monero and privacy during the recent delisting event. See:

The eBook for Why Cryptocurrencies? is now available for free.

It has been available to read online for free, or in a printed version, but now I’ve made the EPUB and PDF free to download.

Earlier I made it available for purchase using Monero and Bitcoin Cash, with plans to support other cryptocurrencies and other payment options. But life happened, so I decided to make it freely available instead.

I wrote a small retrospective on my blog on why it took so long for the eBook to come out, and some of the larger issues I encountered later in the project. If you’re curious, I encourage you to check it out.

Githubs, discords, lead devs, docs, subreddits, etc

Looking for all the relevant information I can find to understand how myself and other engineers can contribute to getting this off the ground.

I am long enough in the space to remember this early Bitcoin meme:

For good or for worse Bitcoin so far has fallen back in its adoption as a everyday medium of exchange. Much more places accepted Bitcoin directly from 2012 to 2016 and if not in absolute terms than clearly in comparison with the number of speculators.

One grew by x2 while the other grew by x100.

Back then the problem for merchants was that not enough people had cryptos in their wallets. Today we have plenty of people having cryptos in their wallets but nowhere to spend them.

If the tiny Bitcoin community back then could achieve to be adopted by bars, restaurants and small shops a decade ago, this is possible again. Just that this time Monero will take care of fungibility and low transaction fees as well.

Make it your every day challenge to ask at every POS (market, super market freelancer, hotel,...) if they accept crypto. And if not what they would need to make it possible for you - their customer.
