ngl… wasn’t that much of shock to see this day was coming. I think nothing changed regarding fundamentals and I definitely consider adding some at these prices. I know we don’t “like” binance here but the liquidity sure was nice .. thoughts?

Some people may think that XMR being delisted from all major exchanges is a tragedy or a doomsday, but this is not true at all.

From my perspective, getting attacked and delisted is troublesome, because it makes it extremely hard to do price discovery in real world.

But the other side of the coin is that it will, very probably, spark a motivation which in turn will instantiate a spark of ingenuity that will get you out of this trouble.

Humans are beings carved by evolution. And in the times of great peril, the most amazing things are created that defy all odds, even defy reality itself. We are survivors, this is how we are made and this is how humans "work".

So I can't wait to see what kind of genius invention you will create to get out of this situation. A new type of DEX? Some revolutionary swap mechanism? Maybe some non-custodial setup that allows you to trade fiat<->crypto in a completely decentralized way? Who knows?

Whatever it will be, I think that the whole crypto ecosystem and humanity will greatly benefit from it.

Disclaimer: No dishonesty here, obviously I am mostly a BCH fan, but I also have been holding Monero for few years and I view it as a "brother project" to BCH.

As a BCHer, I have been where you guys have been. We get constantly attacked, the attacks never stop, at this point I am just used to it and I expect constant attacks.

So I know that you will get out of this mess stronger, from pure experience.

Hello r/monero,

Yearly checkin here! I've posted in this subreddit in 2023 and 2022 about our anonymous hosting services supporting monero.

Today is a special day seeing XMR dropping due to binance delisting it. I wanted to reinforce our commitment to Monero hosting as we just launched our new unmetered VPS offers starting at 4.99€/mo. Since i last posted we also added webhosting packages from 2.99€/mo.

If you don't know us, we are an anonymous hosting provider, we don't require any personal data to setup your hosting service.

As usual let us know what you think about our new offers and our services in general :)

You can check us out here:

Happy to be participating in a more global movement for privacy.

Thank you for reading and let's keep decentralizing the economy :)

Please apologies me, I don't have good knowledge about market rules and economies.

All I know is that the price of a cryptocurrency on a platform is based on its last trade.

When two platforms have different prices, it means there is an arbitrage opportunity that will hopefully lead to balancing this disparity.

But it only works if people know the price on platforms. Nowaday, DEX and atomic swaps are often setting XMR price based on CoinGecko or Kraken. But in a world where we're delisted from every CEX, how are we gonna set the price ? We're indeed all hoping that atomic swaps become the standard, but if all transactions occurs

privately, how will we know in the first place there was a trade that potentially impacted xmr price ? How will we know the price to which we can swap ?

Moreover I don't see CoinGecko starting to index BasicSwap or Haveno trades as a source of information.

These are questions that I asked myself since last year, hopefully someone could provide an answer

What about seraphis? Has it been fleshed out?

Hi there,

I'm a bit unsure about this. I do like the BIP39 format, because it needs the passphrase.

Isn't it unsafe to write 24 words locally? Because if anyone finds your 24 words they'll be able to simply use it. What are the ways around this?

Thanks!

Hi Monero community, I’m in the planning process of developing a Monero Anonymous E-commerce site, focusing on anonymity for users. I believe the key to changing perceptions about Monero, both within crypto communities and globally, is through demonstrating its unique applications that other cryptocurrencies lack.

However, I've encountered a significant challenge, KYC regulations. It seems that achieving anything beyond obscurity requires some level of KYC compliance to operate legally. This requirement appears to contradict the anonymity I aim to offer. If I can't ensure privacy and anonymity for my customers, at least online, I'd rather not pursue this project.

I have a few questions:

  1. Is there a way to avoid KYC requirements without breaking the law, particularly as I plan to launch in the U.S. first, with potential international expansion later?
  2. How can I defend against money laundering accusations commonly associated with Monero, while maximizing user security and anonymity?
  3. What products would you like to see on this platform?

Your advice and suggestions are not only invaluable to me but also crucial for the future of commerce in the Monero community.

TLDR: Developing a Monero-based anonymous e-commerce site but faced with KYC challenges that threaten user anonymity. Seeking advice on legal operation without KYC, avoiding money laundering accusations, and product preferences.

Cloudflare just revealed on their blog that back in November a sophisticated hacker, likely a nation state, got access to some of their servers. This comes after a security firm identified a different vulnerability months earlier. This shows the true dangers of them overseeing all traffic and all cryptocurrency on all centralized exchanges. It's critically important you understand this:

Tor Browser Onion:

I question that GetMonero.org is on Cloudflare. We should strongly reconsider this as we're downloading XMR wallet binaries from an organization not friendly to privacy. And the PGP public key to verify it is on the same Cloudflare website.

If monero halved it's block times would it weaken/compormise security, is it a limitation of the cryptographic algorithm?

Recently had a discussion on the recent delisting news, the price situation of the coin and so on. I open this post in the hopes to start a discussion and most important make the community engage with eachother, the coin won't succeed if everyone stays alone and hidden from everything and everyone.

So, are there any new projects in development and discussions to make monero more accessible to the masses? share your ideas, interact with eachother and why not start some projects.

!!! Disclaimer !!!! I don't hold coins as an investment in the hopes I scrape a few % points of profit, I'm in the game for the utility of it and not the speculation, so I won't personally gain anything by having more people engaged in the coin and by concequence pumping the price of the coin.

Hi sorry if this is a bad question, I am not a crypto expert. Why not a privacy stablecoin instead of monero when it fluctuates in price depending on if it’s a bull run or not? Thanks

Edit: thanks guys for all the responses. Also I realized how stupid my question is since stablecoins have to be pegged to something which will reduce the level of privacy

Hi there all,

I'm posting on behalf of the BasicswapDex team as we are looking for someone to potentially help us with implementing protocol support to enable XMR:ETH and other ETH atomic swap pairings onto our DEX.

For background we basically built an open source, P2P atomic swap DEX which via an implementation of scriptlesss scripts (adaptor signatures) utilises a fully decentralised distributed order book with the swaps occuring on a token-free, offchain node based E2EE data layer.

The approach is highly privacy preserving and importantly enables us to provide bidirectional XMR atomic swaps on our pairings.

We would like to implement ETH and ERC token swap support onto our DEX and we have looked at and done some work with Elizabeth Banks a.k.a. Noot () who provided the PoC CLI implementation of XMR:ETH atomic swaps.

However she is not available to develop this further and we would need some help from an experienced Ethereum developer to take this work further.

We currently need a developer who is skilled in Python and is familiar with both account based and UTXO architecture.

I can't promise much at this stage in terms of renumeration however if you are interested in helping, it's worth chatting to our team directly - you can DM me for more info or better still email hello@particl.io (the parent team) or reach out to us via our twitter handle @basicswapdex.

Any help or pointers would be welcome!

Warmest regards,

The BasicSwapDex team.
