London for vegans (discuss.tchncs.de)
submitted 6 months ago by jo3rn@discuss.tchncs.de to c/vegan@lemmy.ml

I'm from Germany and will be in London for a few days next week. Do you have any recommendations for what I should check out as a vegan?

Interesting things in the supermarkets that are only available in UK? A good dish in a restaurant?

Or a place of interest, an exhibition, an evening activity?

Do they also have the V-label or do they indicate vegan products in some other way?

Grateful for any tips ✌️

Isotope analysis of human and faunal remains dated to the Later Stone Age reveals a substantial plant-based component to hunter-gatherer diets at the site of Taforalt, several millennia prior to the development of agriculture in the Levant, renewing the question of why agriculture did not develop contemporaneously in North Africa.

I was trying to bake some meringue and playing with aquafaba, but I tend cook chickpeas myself and store them dried otherwise. But aquafaba-based recipes usually assume you buy precooked chickpeas in a glass.

Then I found this article, which explores how to cook chickpeas so the cooking water can be used for aquafaba recipes.

I was thinking about this; I know it's hard to change from what you always have known and experienced as normal, so it's not easy to transition out of animal products, but the carnists who show up here to argue with us literally seem crazy to me; their one constant answer is always it's ok to murder and torture animals, and they can never give a good reason why.

It was a huge change for me. But now that I've made it, I cannot believe their endless faulty logic they cling so desperately to for NO reason.
