Zenith Radio Nurse

The Radio Nurse was the first electronic baby monitor. Manufactured by the Zenith Radio Corporation, it went on sale in 1938. The product was developed by Zenith executive Eugene F. McDonald, and designed by Japanese-American sculptor and product designer Isamu Noguchi.

Although the product was manufactured for only a few years, it has been acclaimed for its design. It is still in demand as a collectible and is in many museum collections.

Noguchi also designed the Noguchi table.

Noguchi's life is insanely interesting. He was commissioned a mural in Mexico City that pits communism and socialism about the dangers of fascism in 1936 that prominently features the hammer and sickle against the Nazi swastika. 1936! 3 years before the beginning of WWII! Leftists of the day knew and knew well what troubles were brewing even as liberals historically did nothing.

He also banged the shit out of Frida Kahlo while he was there and Diego Rivera chased him out of Mexico over it.
