Apparently, bringing up China being authoritarian is now "bigotry". Makes sense now all those comments from .ml users that most people banned from .ml are for bigotry.

"Bigotry" = Anything negative about China or Russia now

Apparently, bringing up China being authoritarian is now “bigotry”.

I've noticed this lately in a lot of communities I'm in, most of which that have nothing to do with politics and are centered around Linux/technology. Why are people suddenly getting personally hurt over criticism against their government? Thats the wildest thing I've ever seen, and for some reason it's becoming more of a thing.

The funny thing is, it's not even their government. They're defending an idealized version that only exists in their heads. As far as I can tell, the primary developers are European.

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
