i have one of the older models of steamdeck and it emulates most switch games pretty well. the more recent ones can run a bit crap and certain games that run bad on the switch already (like animal crossing new horizons) also run bad on the steamdeck
so if u get a newer one it'd probably be as good as an actual switch lol. i highly recommend it. mine is only starting to show mild wear and tear now and ive been using it for 1-5 hours everyday for the last 3 years
The hardware of the new steamdeck revision is almost identical, I think it’s just a die shrink and oled screens generate a bit less heat. So generally the improvements would be in battery life, with some very situational performance improvements (basically anywhere clocks drop due to thermal throttling).
yea it's a pretty marginal upgrade in terms of real performance. excited for future models though
I have some performance issues with certain Switch games on my Steam Deck OLED for sure. Sometimes switching between Ryujinx vs Yuzu helps but not always
