This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.
Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.

The Nazis also believed that all people deserved a job land and a family. Just cos the Nazis believed/did something doesn't necessarily mean its Nazi activity.
I feel that by comparing a little transphobia to the literal genocide of 6million people u might be undermining value of the word that refers to the latter?
First of all, WTF are you talking about? You didn't say "cos I wouldn’t classify transphobia as genocide;" you said "cos I wouldn’t classify transphobia as nazism." Naziism is not only about genocide. You're moving goalposts.
Second, trans people (and all the other kinds of LGBT, for that matter), were exterminated in the camps right alongside the Jews! They are included in that "6 million people" you just cited!
Wtf are u trying to justify? When someone is called a Nazi should I be thinking they wanna kill millions of people what an awful person? Cos it sound an awful lot like it trying to justify me thinking a Nazi is someone who doesn't like trans people in their bathroom.
This is completely irrelevant to my point.
You're being reported a lot and I'm trying to understand what point you're trying to make here before I decide what action to take
Is it that transphobia is not a serious issue and therefore comparing it to nazis is out of line? is it that calling trapshobes "nazis" cheapens the impact of labeling people as "nazis" and you're trying to preserve the impact of the word? Is it that all nazis are transphobes but not all transphobes are nazis? What exactly are you trying to argue here?
My point is:
Hateful speech != mass murder.
Its by calling a transphobe a Nazi it absolutely is cheapening the impact of the word Nazi.
I don't think this is necessarily true (although I suspect ur assertion would be accurate for the most part). But its irrelevant to the issue that Hateful speech != mass murder.
If u look at my comments I haven't hated on anyone or supported transphobia or Nazis. I think both are wrong I simply think being a Nazi is significantly worse. I guess people are incapable of subtlety and thus report.
Honestly, I think it's not worth trying to fight for this hill, but if you're going to do it, at least try to make from the onset clear what your point is, because one could argue that you seem to be trying to argue something else.
Alright I'll shut it. I though it was clear I wasn't trying to justify Nazis or transphobia but I guess I need to add disclaimer in future (I doubt this will reduce reports tbh).
Just be careful what you say. If people seem to be getting unreasonably upset it might be time for a clarification
The reality you refuse to acknowledge is that the millions of people the Nazis wanted to kill included trans people.
You are trying to create a distinction that doesn't exist in order to spread disinformation and transphobic hate, "no true Scotsman"-ing Nazis in order to pretend they were different from MAGAs in a way they are 100% not.
You're a fucking Nazi/MAGA apologist and it's time for you to get banned.
U completely misunderstand what I'm trying to say. Let's solve this with a trolley problem.
U have a trolley on a track with 3 options on track A u have 2 trans people, 3 Jews, 4 coloured people, and 2 mentally disabled. On track B u have 2 trans people and that's it and on track C u have no people.
Obviously track C is ideal. All I'm trying to say is the guy who switches track c to track a is significantly worse than the guy who switched track c to track b. And by saying both these people are equivalent is undermining the word used for the guy who switched track c to track a.
Btw do u think ~50% of Americans are Nazis cos they voted for trump?
Nazis tie trans people to railroad tracks and choose to run them over and you're saying Nazis aren't transphobic. There's not a finite number of tracks. They chose who they were killing. The fact is that they chose to kill trans people. They didn't have to (they didn't have to kill anyone), but they did.
"Hitler was a vegan" level horseshit.
Is the jobs program why people fucking hate Nazis? Oh, no, right, it was all the innocent groups they targeted for mass murder. Like trans people. Nobody should have to explain to you how screeching about trans people as if they're gonna eat your children is building toward that.
Hateful speech != mass murder.
I shouldn't have to explain this to anyone.
'They're just calling these people subhuman child predators! Nothing bad could follow that. Today is the last day in history.'
Fuck off.
Calling someone a subhuman child predator is awful but its still a long way from mass murder.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stochastic_terrorism
It's how you target people, for mass murder.
That's what it builds toward.
Like the actual Nazis and the actual Holocaust. This is what came first. They were still Nazis, before all the murder.
Fuck off nazi scum.
Please explain how explaining literal history makes me a Nazi? Also this isn't good faith engagement of ideas
This is literally what the Nazis did first. This is their history, you dolt. This is what led to the actual no-shit Holocaust. This is what that process looks like.
Feeling awkward around trans folks is a little transphobia.
Making claims that trans folks are grooming children is Nazi shit.
I still think by saying this u are undermining the meaning of the word.
Spreading hateful information about a vulnerable group leads directly to violence against them.
I think you are minimizing the damage this person is doing to vulnerable populations.
We should deport all the Australians back to england
No ta.
Switch the countries then that sounds like an incredibly racist comment. Please elaborate by what u mean.
He means he's a Nazi too.
...or is sarcastically equivocating the expression.
