Steve released a video pointing out a bunch of technical errors and ethical concerns about how LMG is run, Linus just straight up admitted that he thinks it's unreasonable to have his fancy new multi-million dollar lab spend even $100 on retesting even though he absolutely knew that his results were inaccurate, doubled down after people started calling him out on it, whined that he didn't "sell" the one of a kind prototype that he'd promised to give back to the manufacturer, he "auctioned" it for charity, even though that had been explicitly stated in Steve's video, and then completely separately a former employee said that she had been sexually harassed while working there.

It is dramatic, but the fact that Linus has always pretended to be a tech media guy, it’s quite remarkable to see him as a tool who has no integrity, much less even an iota of concern for testing accuracy. The billet labs guys he trashed in his erroneous testing and review of their prototype, are a pair entrepreneurs just trying to serve a very niche market. Linus Media Group, a multi million dollar company stole these dudes property, shit on them with an egregiously erroneous review, and then when Linus is called out for this, he puts out a video saying he can’t be expected to waste $100-$500 for accurate tests! And “I didn’t sell the billet lab’s prototype!! I auctioned it!”

I’ve been seeing stuff go on in the form of memes but looks like a good summary and ofc I’m gonna read the original too

I'll help ya out since I felt the same way and spent too much time on something I don't really care about, though I do care for the person who was impacted.

They are a tech YouTube channel that tests components for computers and the like.

Basically, a former female employee (can't remember her name) who was the social media manager, made a post of her tenure there, and it was horrible. Sexual harassment, belittled, ridiculous standards for work. At one point she felt she needed to gash herself and go to the ER, just so she can take a day off because she was ridiculed for taking a sick day previously. There is whole shit ton more. I'd link the post but sorry I'm a little lazy rn.

The guy who is "de-friending" this Linus guy, is another YouTuber who does the same thing.

This was a hyper TL;DR, and I'm missing other things, but that's pretty much the jist of it.

This sounds like you're accusing Steve of something. I've never seen anything anout that. Can you give some context or links?

[-] Spaceinv8er@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Who? Na I'm speaking about the Madison girl, and the workplace environment. You can go to the Linus Tech Tips instance and find out more about what's up. It's all over there.

When you say- "The guy who is "de-friending" this Linus guy, is another YouTuber who does the same thing" it sounds like you're accusing him of the same abuse Linus' Company is being accused of. I don't believe Steve, that's the guys name, has ever been accused of anything like that.

They're saying that Steve's channel covers the same topics as Linus.

That's how I read it, but it could easily be taken either way, which is why they were questioning it.

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !linustechtips@lemmy.ml
