A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

MODERATORS
The Trump worshippers do not represent "the Republicans". They represent Trump worshippers.
The only two groups I have heard say anything about wanting a "king" have been the brain damaged Trump cult and the far left people that keep (incorrectly) assuming that is how all Republicans and conservatives think as well.
The Republican party is the trump party now. Every single one of them want him in charge.
There are a lot who left the republican party to make that happen and they want back in. (maybe not the republican party, they are looking at other third parties, but the democrats are not doing anything to make this group welcome. There are also a lot who don't like Trump, but are hoping that if they stand a few years of him the Trump years will pass and they will bring the party back to what they want. Right now if you are a republican you have to at least give public lip service to Trump - this makes it hard to tell who really is for Trump and who is riding this wave out.
Just blatantly incorrect, but I'm not gonna try and convince you otherwise. It would clearly be a waste of my time.
There are no Republicans of the type you're thinking of. Not anymore.
This is what spending all your time in an echo chamber does to a motherfucker lol.
I suggest you get off of Lemmy then. While there is some good things here, the echo chamber is even worse than the Trump one (which is saying a lot)
Just because it's an echo chamber doesn't mean it can't be interesting to be here and converse with people.
I'm just very aware of the echo chamberness.
It's pretty much the same as talking to the far right nutjobs in their spaces. Both groups completely unaware of how completely absurd they are. Both groups think they are 100% right about everything all the time lol.
I appreciate you recommending I leave, but I've been entirely banned from reddit for no given reason and I enjoy this format of content/discussion. So I will still be here attempting to have decent conversations when I can.
