This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.
Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.

MODERATORS
Careful with your wording, the people being banned aren't gatekeeping, that's just the bullshit excuse used and then if it's ever refuted, well then the record says they're a bigot and who cares what they think?
Considering every different space has different rules, it is unfair to force the loosely interpreted rules of one space on a totally different space.
That does not answer the scenario I presented above.
You not wanting to read does not change me answering your question.
If you want the rules of another instance changed you can ask the owners of that instance.
Lurking/banning users mods don't like for bullshit reasons is objectively bad policy and shows PTB
Autobans are reddit mod behavior.
I was curious why you're being so evasive.
This is called gatekeeping people's identities. That is what you're doing. You are engaging in bigotry so yeah, of course you're going to get banned from a queer safe space. It doesn't matter how trans or gay you might be, if you're practicing bigotry then you're part of the problem. You're part of the reason these safe spaces exist to begin with.
If you can't deal with the idea that someone might have an identity that you can't understand, then you need to grow up.
Stop perpetuating the cycle of abuse.
The fact that someone who's supposedly trans isn't able to understand that they are continuing the exact cycle of abuse that cis people have been pushing onto trans people is very sad. How lucky you must be to have never been doubted or told that your identity is fictional.
I am a trans woman.
I have no issue with Neopronouns, they/them/it, even the humans who identify as like Xi/Xit I'm fine with even though it's a bit weird imo.
But non human gender identities is where I draw the line
I'm sorry, but I don't like transgender people being looped in with people who want to be animals, mythical creatures, and aliens. It comes off as disingenuous when these people try to insert themselves into trans spaces to get validation while trans people IRL are being put in camps.
Ironically the admins have decided what the definitons of transgender are, and gatekeep that definiton.
If you think bullying trans people into these weird guilt games is productive then maybe you should grow up.
I noticed you took out the condescending "sweetheart" this time so i will too.
So if someone writes racist comments on an unmoderated community, they shouldn't be banned from another instance until they write racist comments on that instance as well?
So when does blahaj start using automoderator to ban everyone who's posted to a specific instance?
Because that's where these autoban policies lead to.
I post on the instance and community we're currently in as much as you do. A lot of people do. None of them have been automatically banned.
It's almost like people are making a boogey man out of internet moderators trying to have a safe space for people being affected by people like Rat in a Hat and PugJesus, and they they complain that they are the victims of their Freeze Peach being violated.
God, I can't believe I violated Blahaj's safe space.
When was the last time I posted on Blahaj, again?
You sound very South Park Republican right now.
I can't help but notice I'm still waiting.
I'm waiting.
No, really, when was the last time I posted on Blahaj?
If I'm accused of violating a safe space, generally, that requires some violation of that space.
