They aren't doing it out of their goodness, EuroNCAP, a car safety agency in Europe now requires physical buttons for all the most common car controls in order for car to even receive 5 stars in their EuroNCAP safety ratings. You can have the safest car in the world othereise, but has a big ass touch screen and no physical buttons for car stereo, AC and other common stuff and you'll only be able to get 4 stars.
