How long before I can upload images? (lemm.ee)

New user here. Trying to set up a community but keep getting the message that the account is too new to upload images.

How long until I can load an icon and banner for the group, and include images within posts?

I think lemm.ee required you to be a month or two old.

Lots of servers where there isn’t that time requirement. You could create an alt here on the server im on lemmy.blahaj.zone and you can upload images from the start.

(If you appoint your alt to mod your community, it can upload the pics for you).

Okay, thanks. I will give that a go. Are they primarily worried about porn? Isn't there some other mechanism that could ensure good behaviour? A month is a long time to wait in an image-free zone.

I think it’s mostly about server space. Lemm.ee is completely free and without adds, relying fully on donations I think? It’s expensive to host images.

A month is a long time to wait in an image-free zone.

To upload pictures for other uses cases than community banner and icon, you can use https://postimages.org/
