except it's not even a continuum it's more like a fucking pick and mix bag
Exactly, for example just look at real cases of people born intersex and try and plot out which of them are 'more' or 'less' male. [Human] sex isn't binary and it isn't an orderable continuum. It's a complex result of reality and a simple binary model just isn't realistic.
