There are only two genders...

Except for: <giant list of genetic, epigenetic, developmental, etc... things that happen with human beings>.

Not to mention all the other things that happen with other living things

Yeah, and so are red-heads, Karen. In fact, red-heads are rarer than intersex people. Are red-heads not worthy of basic respect and dignity?

[-] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 3 weeks ago

i mean historically the answer seems to be that they aren't worthy of basic respect and dignity, no

[-] dumblederp@aussie.zone 3 points 3 weeks ago

I'll add that anatomical variance is in the introduction chapter of any decent anatomy and physiology book.

[-] Fleur_@hilariouschaos.com 1 points 3 weeks ago

I feel like this statistic is probably taken out of context. Like if you look at all of earth it's probably true, 1.7%. of people being intersex and 1-2% of people having red hair. But in places where people actually* have red hair such as northern and western Europe that goes to 2-6% and reduces to basically 0 in places where people of European heritage don't live. So basically what I'm saying is if you live in a place where you regularly see people with red hair you are probably seeing them more often then you are seeing people who are intersex. And the opposite being true too if you don't regularly see people with red hair you see intersex people much more often. Overall I think it's unhelpful in giving a realistic idea of the comparative amount of intersex people.

Their hair is usually red

There are as many genders as you can think of.

There are two sexes (M/F), but they exist on a continuum rather than a binary.

Also, why are we so obsessed with sex and gender? They want us to be distracted by this bullshit.

Wake up and realise the Class Consciousness!

[-] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 3 weeks ago

except it's not even a continuum it's more like a fucking pick and mix bag

[-] eureka@aussie.zone 5 points 3 weeks ago

Exactly, for example just look at real cases of people born intersex and try and plot out which of them are 'more' or 'less' male. [Human] sex isn't binary and it isn't an orderable continuum. It's a complex result of reality and a simple binary model just isn't realistic.

I think sexual insecurity plays a role. The trans hate is repackaged homophobia. Gay panic used to be a legal defence for example https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_panic_defense

[-] spartanatreyu@programming.dev 1 points 2 weeks ago

Gay panic is still a legal defence in many parts of the world

[-] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 weeks ago

You're kind of missing the point.

Everyone knows there are more than 2 genders. It's an easily falsifiable statement.

It's an incendiary statement designed to foment division.

[-] spartanatreyu@programming.dev 3 points 3 weeks ago

You’re kind of missing the point.

I'm making fun of them by pointing out how they're wrong

It’s an easily falsifiable statement.

Yes

It’s an incendiary statement designed to foment division.

Yes

Everyone knows there are more than 2 genders.

Actually no, not everyone knows. You'd be surprised how people are ignorant to these matters (by choice, or repressive environment)

[-] sqgl@beehaw.org 1 points 3 weeks ago

Except for:.

Would be better expressed as

Except for: …

[-] Salvo@aussie.zone 23 points 3 weeks ago

I love how The Age put their article about Palmer trying to buy the election with ads right above one of his ads.

[-] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 22 points 3 weeks ago

You couldn't get a better example of the corporate stranglehold on media. Time for everyone to read manufacturing consent

[-] eureka@aussie.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago

Absolutely. Plenty of freely available PDFs and other formats online.

[-] Almacca@aussie.zone 16 points 3 weeks ago

Imagine if he'd put all the money he's wasted on failed political campaigns into actually helping people. Man's a fucking monster.

[-] No1@aussie.zone 5 points 3 weeks ago
[-] Frenchys_prospecting@aussie.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago

Could you imagine if these people did just one thing for other people?

[-] dumblederp@aussie.zone 5 points 3 weeks ago

That's the thing about these flogs, if they did that they'd probably get the votes authenticity.

[-] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 12 points 3 weeks ago

Jacquie Lambie's original party.

Trumpet of Patriots, wot even is that supposed to mean, people farting on Australia Day ?

Absolutely. Some of those fucked-up stars look like maple or cannabis leaves 😆 It's not like Palmer couldn't have afforded an illustrator, either. Right-wing boomers just love AI garbage for some reason.

Oh, and as a bonus, the Latin is wrong 😆

[-] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 2 points 3 weeks ago

You can’t trust an illustrator, as most people who can draw are commies. Which is why AI exists: so right-wing people can get art made without paying some dirty hippie who believes in equality and human rights.

[-] vividspecter@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

Thought it read "Honor Obama" and was a bit confused for a moment.

[-] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

LOL. Clive saw Trump win and ordered his people to lean into identifying as closely with that as they can get away with legally. It’s like scammy electric-car startups a few years ago choosing names that sounded as reminiscent of Tesla as possible (Nikola, Faraday Future) without actually infringing on any trademarks.

The problem of that the plausibly-deniable reading of his new party name, with its Biblical-apocalyptic imagery and emphatic pledge-of-allegiance patriotism, comes across as exceedingly American, to the point where most undecided Australians would take one look and say “yeah, nah”.

[-] guillem@aussie.zone 11 points 3 weeks ago

Looking forward to their stance on the value of Pi.

[-] shinyrat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

At least three

[-] ausgroucho@aus.social 8 points 3 weeks ago

@zero_gravitas There are only two types of billionaires. Arseholes and Pricks.

[-] porcelainpitcher@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago

And yet they don't wanna fuck eachother. Just the rest of us.

[-] freamon@preferred.social 8 points 3 weeks ago

Well, they should have put the pic of the male on the left and the female on the right then, just so they're not adding to any possible "confusion".

[-] sqgl@beehaw.org 4 points 3 weeks ago

Are you presuming Clive's gender?

[-] Nanook@lemm.ee 6 points 3 weeks ago

Thanks for the snippet about the F1 race in Aussie this weekend.

[-] No1@aussie.zone 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I just saw a Trumpettes of Patriots TV ad that had Tucker Carlson in it.

Tucker was on stage with Clive saying how billionaires are bad and do nothing for you. But you needed Clive, you needed rich people on your side.

WTF? All I could think of was "This ad has been authorised by cookers, for cookers"

[-] TimePencil@infosec.exchange 2 points 3 weeks ago

@zero_gravitas
Trump's excrement, like his waistline, is spreading.

[-] MisterFrog@aussie.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago

Why is the right wing constantly searching for some outrage to manufacture? It's been their playbook now for like 150 years, at least.

[-] zero_gravitas@aussie.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Gotta keep the working class divided somehow, because if we're united...
