As seen on the recent GameDiscover article, Valve's Steam presentation at GDC confirmed that Simplified Chinese has ever so slightly surpassed English as the primary language on Steam. Important to note, this isn't based on the ever-fluctuating hardware survey that Steam has. It is based on a report straight out of the horse's mouth.

But there's also folks like this suggesting the sinister sisipee is using western games as a digital opium to pacify their disgruntled comstituents:

I love that last one. The western world is the one that developed these games, has a long history of developing games, and Chinese audiences have only recently started become more active in gaming spaces, but it's the evil Chinese that are using this stuff to pacify their population, those gamers in the west playing video games 24/7 are just doing that because of Freedom, nothing to do with being pacified by the system.
