For a moment I asked myself, where's the Pi, but then I realised that this was a gardening community, not a computing one.

(Source: If you're unfamiliar, there's a computer called a Raspberry Pi.)

It's small, cheap, primary intended for teaching purposes and absurdity popular in the maker, hobbyist and proof of concept phases of many projects .. sweet spot is exactly what it hit.

You serious? Someone posts the word raspberry and a picture of a plant and the first thing you think of is a computer? Have you eaten raspberries before?

[-] vk6flab@lemmy.radio 0 points 1 week ago

Yes I have eaten raspberries, directly from the plant even, but I've been using computers daily and professionally for over 40 years and raspberries less than a month per year and most years not.

So .. yes, I thought of a computer first.

Why did you feel the need to comment about it though?

My fediverse feed is set to ALL, so I get exposure to a growing variety of communities and posts, which sometimes introduces me to new and interesting ideas and perspectives.

If I feel inspired by a post I'll decide if I want to share my thoughts as a way to both contribute and experience a feel for how that community might operate.

Over the decades that I've been online this has made me many new friends and introduced me to a range of interests that I might otherwise not have encountered.

Just because I commented about computers today, doesn't mean that next time I might ask about my passion fruit vine.

In this case, it seems that my contribution has hit a raw nerve for some reason, even though it was intended as humour for something that tickled my funny bone at the time.

It will likely mean that I'll think twice before contributing in the future and if my next experience is similarly negative, I'll likely block the community from my feed.

People have a lot of overlap in interests.
