France did the thing that Democrats are too scared to. I hope it works

Nothing to do with Democrats. This has everything to do with American Politics; Republican, Democratic, Independent.

Corruptions only friend is freedom from responsibility and accountability. We have that pretty dialed in here in usa.

He was charged. Judge Cannon postponed the hearing past the election. How is that on Democrats?

[-] Tinidril@midwest.social 34 points 11 months ago

It's not the job of politicians (or at least it shouldn't be) to prosecute criminals. However, if you count Merrick Garland as a "Democrat", he should have moved on Trump immediately after he left power. Instead, he sat on it. That was the first delay, and Judge Canon was the last. Blaming the last delay is obvious, but not the real story.

Hey, don't stop at Garland. Who was Garland's boss, who could have told Garland to do his fucking job or be replaced by someone who will?

Never forget that failure to deal with Trump is ultimately on Joe Biden and no one else.

That’s fair. I’m not sure of Garland’s motive to delay, other than a lack of constitution. Cannon was quite overtly playing games with the hearing and calendar, so she took the heat.

Garland didn't want to seem like his actions were political retribution, like they claimed it was anyway. He didn't want the perception they already concluded anyway!

[-] futatorius@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

Some heat. She's still in office.

[-] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Good luck getting 2/3 of the Senate to vote for her impeachment.
