I'm in agreement with you on this. The only thing XP had over 2000 was the (new at the time) inclusion of drivers for the majority of common PC hardware. It was staggering now much nicer it was to have hardware truly be "plug n play" for the first time since MS trotted that tagline out. Windows 2K only really started having issues late in the XP lifespan when newer hardware started coming out without 2K drivers and you either had to attempt to hack the driver or hope someone already did it and released it online or start trying to buy old or used hardware.
