It's truly impossible for religious institutions to be progressive, because it renders them redundant when they aren't recognised as an absolute authority in things

He might not be a "bad" pope, but let's not pretend that any of them are actually good, doing anything other than maintaining the influence and wealth of their superstition

He covered up child abuse, so the hell he believes in (if any of those politicians actually believes their bullshit) is waiting

The entire point of religion is keeping ideas that were hashed out centuries ago alive as long as possible.

It's what they mean by god; it's their way of life.
