I'd just like to thank you for writing "how big a deal" instead of the now ubiquitous "how big of a deal". That would have really annoyed me.
But the 'of' is grammatically correct
Maybe its a trick to convince people to leave out 'of' to annoy people in the future
Of the ofs that I could leave out, the ofs that I have left out in the past, and the ofs that I typically include, the ofs that I typically include are the only ofs that get noticed, but the ofs I exclude might be the most impactful ofs. Hard to say for sure.
