As kind of a follow up from an earlier post of photo of this area from 1940.

The perspective of that earlier post crops out Lotta's Fountain a San Francisco landmark which has a great history behind it.

The fountain is still there today.

This post's photo was taken in 1905, one year before the 1906 earthquake destroyed much of what is captured here.

Just think about the people strolling around on a normal day for them. One year later most of them would be in the middle of a major historical earthquake and fire.

And cute vintage streetcars in the background...
