Gacha games target whales while, in the worst cases, using free players as content for those whales who are spending thousands or tens of thousands a month. Meanwhile, the price for individual releases keeps going up to the point that there's speculation that the coming console generation the switch 2 is heralding will be the first one that isn't affordable for the average american household.
